County Champions 2017

On Saturday 12th November Sacred Heart U15 Netball team took part in the Middlesex County Preliminary tournament.

The top 3 teams from this tournament progress to the County Finals in March 2017.

Sacred Heart won 6 matches and lost only one.  This ensured that they qualify for the finals.

The weather was appalling all day but their determination and team spirit was inspiring to watch.

We would also like to say a big thank you to the parents who stayed all day in the pouring rain cheering the team on.

Sacred Heart had the greatest support and it really did make all the difference.

Scores on the day: (qualification round)

Latymer School 14:2 (win)

St Benedict’s 7:5 (win)

Lady Eleanor Holles 5:4 (win)

St Helen’s 9:6 (win)

North London Collegiate School 14:5 (win)

South Hampstead High School 7:4 (win)

Henrietta Barnett 8:4 (loss)

FINALS DAY - On Saturday 11th March the U15 netball team went to the Middlesex County Finals to battle for the Sonia Taylor Trophy at Highgate School.

It was a tough competition and the first time Sacred Heart have entered.

We were up against schools with a strong tradition of winning - Godolphin and Latymer School, St Paul’s Girls School, Lady Eleanor Holles School, Notting Hill & Ealing High School and Henrietta Barnett School.

The team fought hard all day and were supported by an enthusiastic band of parents! At the end of the tournament no-one was sure who had won, the scores for the other matches were carefully guarded.  We all gathered to wait for the trophy presentations … we knew that we were in the top three; but G&L, St Paul’s and Lady Eleanor Holles were the favourites before the tournament. We were elated when the tournament organiser, Sally Essex, announced Sacred Heart had won the trophy.  It was a brilliant end to a fantastic day – one we won’t forget.

We do owe a great deal of thanks to the wonderful SHHS parents who supported the team so enthusiastically; the PE staff for selecting and training the team. We would also like to say thank you to Nina Pasquale for giving up her morning to umpire on our behalf.
