Sacred Heart High School Hammersmith Receives “Outstanding”

Ofsted Inspection Report in October 2017

DfE places Sacred Heart High School Hammersmith among top 1% of of all non-selective secondary maintained schools and academies in England  – and one of the leading Catholic girls' schools in the country

London, 1 November, 2017: Sacred Heart High School Hammersmith has been formally recognised as one of the top 1% of all non-selective secondary maintained schools and academies in England. The school ranks top among all secondary schools in the Diocese of Westminster, and is one of the leading Catholic girls' schools in the country.

The school was rated “Outstanding” in every category assessed following its inspection this September. Sacred Heart High School is one of only a handful of secondary schools in the country to achieve Ofsted’s highest grade this year and they describe the school as exceptional.

“This accolade is the direct result of a three-year transformation at Sacred Heart High School,” said Marian Doyle, Head Teacher. “Inspired by careful study of the most respected schools around the world, years of planning have resulted in improvements to our teaching, our programmes, and our operations across the school. We are delighted that Ofsted has officially confirmed the positive effect these developments are having on our students.”

The school is particularly proud that its Sixth Form has also been graded as “Outstanding”.  “A-Level exams have improved year-on-year since the Sixth Form began in 2012 – a tremendous achievement. This demonstrates our commitment to the highest academic achievement for all pupils at every stage of their education.”

“Our mission, and that of the Society of the Sacred Heart, is to provide a well-rounded and transformational educational experience for every girl, no matter her ability,” Doyle continued. “This commitment to the education of each and every student in our care is the reason our pupils are progressing so well. Our ability to deliver exceptional outcomes for girls from Year 7 to Year 13 has never been clearer.”

“Sacred Heart High School is unique. We teach and care for the girls in equal measure. Even though our exam results are some of the best in the country, at all levels, we are not, and refuse to be, an exam factory. Over a seven-year secondary school journey, young girls become young women. We take our duty of care very seriously, and offer students the broad education and the pastoral support they need – a combination that fully prepares them to leave school with a sense of their own giftedness and achievement, equipped to face the future. .”
