National Teaching School
Sacred Heart High School is a National Teaching School. This designation is similar to that of a ‘Teaching Hospital’. Teaching Schools are outstanding schools that coordinate an alliance of partner schools promoting collaboration, to improve outcomes. They are part of the government’s plan to give schools a central role in raising standards by developing a self-improving school-led system and making significant improvements in the quality of teaching, leadership and pupil attainment.
Sacred Heart coordinates the large West London Teaching School Alliance which is made up of approx 60 schools including nurseries, primary, secondary and special schools; faith and non-faith schools; maintained schools, academies, independent schools and free schools.
We also work closely with universities and have a separate Catholic Division to focus on issues specifically relevant to Catholic schools.
We have three core areas of responsibility: School Direct Initial Teacher Training; Professional Development and School to School Support
