As a sixth form learner we will work with you to ensure you have a sense of purpose, are clear about what you are expected to achieve, are proactive about your studies and are challenged and empowered constantly to fulfil your potential. Your achievements will be recognised and praised regularly. Staff will set challenging academic and personal targets and above all, they will never give up on you.
In small tutor groups you will benefit from a dedicated two hours a week with your tutor who will provide mentoring and support in developing you academically, socially and personally. They will guide you in the steps you need to take to ensure academic success, support you in choosing suitable enrichment activities and together with a careers advisor help you think about your long term career aims. Your tutor, pastoral support manager and Director of Learning will also work with your parents or carers to ensure that you meet your full potential as a sixth form learner.
When things get tough, you have the support of our school Chaplain and two professional counsellors to get you back on track.
Your progress will be tracked carefully by your subject teachers and tutors. From day one we will use a variety of data to set challenging targets for you to achieve at the end of your studies and there will be early identification of those who have the potential to apply to Oxbridge.
Progress towards meeting your targets will be reviewed regularly and your subject teachers will be proactive in regular reporting of your attendance, punctuality and attitude towards your learning.
Together we will ensure your success as a sixth former at Sacred Heart High School.
