A Global Misson
St. Madeleine Sophie Barat founded the Society of the Sacred Heart in France in 1801, and since then the Religious of the Society of the Sacred Heart and lay Sacred Heart educators have carried out her mission of educational excellence for girls in 30 counties worldwide.
Today, the global network of Sacred Heart schools comprises of 155 schools, each has its own identity and character. However, each school is guided by the same core values and foundational principles;
- A personal and active faith in God
- A deep respect for intellectual values
- A social awareness which impels to action
- The building of community as a Christian value
- Personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.
As a Sacred Heart School, we are proud to be part of a worldwide family of schools that placed the development of girls’ at its heart. In England, Sacred Heart High School Hammersmith is one of six schools and one college founded by the Society. Our schools are, universally committed to each student's spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical development. We also aim to instil and encourage academic rigour, social responsibility and a strong faith in the context of being a responsible and proactive member of society.
