Academic

Performance

Sacred Heart High School Hammersmith (SHHS) is one of the top 1% of all non-selective secondary maintained schools in England. Rated ‘Outstanding’ and ‘Exceptional’ by Ofsted. The latter rating awarded to just a handful of schools in the country.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 13 students across all pathways, and their achievements this year.

Pure A-Level Pathway

Our headline A-Level results are shown below but they remain provisional while the school awaits the results of appeals.

  • A quarter of all results were at grades A* and A, with well over half of all results at A*-B.  Nearly 90% of all results were at grade A*- C or better.
  • In four subjects – Art, Drama, French and Spanish – every student achieved a grade B or better.
  • In Chemistry, 88% achieved A*-B.
  • In Applied Science BTEC and Business BTEC no student attained a grade below Distinction.
  • Overall, 10% of students achieved all A* and A grades, with two individuals achieving 4 A* to A grades.

We are also delighted to say that our 2024 exam results place us in the top 25% of schools and colleges for value-added progress as rated by ALPs.

Mixed Pathway Options

In addition to the traditional A-Level pathway, at Sacred Heart Sixth Form we also offer mixed pathway options of A-Levels combined with high-quality vocational qualifications. These pathways provide flexibility while keeping Post 18 pathways, including degree-apprenticeships, university and alternative career options open.

More information about the mixed pathway options can be found on page 4 in our Curriculum Course Guide.

Our Level 3 vocational courses include:

  • BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Applied Science (AAQ)
  • BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Business
  • Level 3 Applied Diploma in Criminology
  • CTEC Digital Media Extended Certificate

These qualifications are not a lesser alternative to A-Levels. They are rigorous, respected and valued by universities and employers. They blend academic learning with practical, real-world application, making them ideal for students who enjoy applied learning or want to develop career-focused skills.

Each course carries UCAS tariff points, and when combined with A-Levels, they do not disadvantage students when applying to higher education. In fact, they can strengthen applications for related degree courses such as criminology, business, media, computing, science, health or the social sciences.

Our vocational pathway opens doors, builds confidence, and prepares students for many Post-18 pathways, including degree apprenticeships, university and the world of work, making it a powerful and ambitious alternative to a pure A-Level-only route.

At Sacred Heart Sixth Form, we aim to nurture, challenge and empower all our students.

Our Mission

Exam results, are not and should not be the whole story. Our mission, and that of the Society of the Sacred Heart, is to provide a well-rounded and transformational educational experience for every girl, no matter her ability. This commitment to the education of each and every student in our care is the reason our pupils are progressing so well.

Our school is unique. We teach and care for the girls in equal measure. We are not, and refuse to be, an exam factory. We provide excellent education and pastoral support, a combination that ensures our students leave school with a sense of their own giftedness and achievement, equipped to face the future.
