Year 13 leavers achieved an impressive set of A Level results in 2020, with just under 36% achieving A*/A grades. In addition, 71% of all students were awarded A*/B, with 27% achieving at least AAB. These results reflect the consistent hard work and dedication of all our A Level students.
Our leavers should be proud of what they have achieved over their seven years at Sacred Heart High School and the contribution they have made to the school community and beyond. Year 13 suffered disruption in their final months because of the coronavirus, with their A Level examinations cancelled and the Leavers' Ball having to be postponed. We still hope to arrange to have our Leavers all back together to celebrate their success at some point in the coming months.
Sacred Heart High School (SHHS) Sixth Form offers great choice, quality teaching in small classes. A variety of sporting, co-curricular and leadership opportunities, excellent pastoral care and guidance, tailored to the needs of today’s young adults.
Our staff give outstanding individual support to all students and this remains an essential feature of Sixth Form life. This is a particularly exciting time to be joining the Sixth Form at SHHS, with more students than ever before staying on to study A Levels and BTEC. Our dedicated Sixth Form facilities - which include reserved study areas and the Sixth Form Common Room - are designed to specifically meet the needs of the modern Student.
We believe the Sixth Form at Sacred Heart provides an excellent education and is the perfect stepping stone for university, college and life beyond full-time education. It is our aim that by the time that our Sixth Formers leave school, they have become mature, successful, well-rounded young people, with a strong set of moral values to guide them through adult life.
What makes us special?
This is a caring and dynamic Sixth Form, offering a wide range of A Level subjects in a bespoke, smaller class size setting. Because we are not vast in size, we take time to get to know and treat every Sixth Former as an individual. Thus we can offer a level of guidance and care not available elsewhere. As a result, many of our Sixth Formers develop a close relationship with their Form Tutors and with the Head and Assistant Heads of Sixth Form. We pride ourselves on good communication with students and, very importantly, with their parents.
Our care begins with the help we offer in choosing A Level and BTEC subjects and then continues in our close monitoring of academic progress. We help students, to reach their academic potential and then make the right decisions for the future.
Sixth Form is very definitely a time for self-development and fun and we offer a wide range of activities which reflect the emphasis we put on helping students to become happy, well-balanced and successful young people.
We have a full programme of higher education activities throughout the sixth form, led by the higher education team. A variety of staff are on hand to help guide the choices girls will need to make. Tutors, departmental academic mentors, and higher education coordinators work together with the girls and parents to provide the support necessary; whether helping to complete applications, or preparing for interview.
We are proud to confirm that 66% of our leavers achieved their first university choice in 2019.
The Sacred Heart Sixth Form is a vibrant community where you are able to grow and develop as a young woman of faith and dignity.
